It's been 4 years but we're still dealing with this
From Katie Rossler (Licensed Therapist)
(friend and supporter to many in our community)
Let’s get honest about how the last 4 years have impacted us.
We went through a series of traumatic events globally from a pandemic, to global racism, to rights being taken away, to war, to uncovering what’s happening to children in different places in the world...it's a wonder we are still standing.
We were left trying to understand what was happening around us while still needing to pay our bills and feed our families.
We were left with very little resources and answers to how to experience all of this at once. Things weren't adding up. Reactions weren't making sense. Justice was not served. It left us angry, outraged, anxious, scared, and lost.
We never stopped to grieve individually, as a family, as a community, or as a society. Tribes used to come together around the campfire and wail, dance, stomp, and pound on the drums in their grief. Communities would wear black and show each other grace and compassion.
Today, we hide behind our phones, our glasses of wine, our busy calendars, and wonder why we're struggling to be present in life. We disconnect ourselves even further from what we actually need.We don’t want to feel all of it. And we especially don’t want to feel our grief.
But grief doesn’t have to be scary. It doesn’t have to be something you do alone. It’s not something to feel shameful about, and it definitely doesn’t mean you're not capable and strong if you feel it.
Grief is a normal part of life that we all feel at different times...and it’s time to start learning how to feel it rather than hide from it.
Because it’s here, and it’s not going anywhere.
February 20th from 8-9:30pm CET / 2-3:30pm EST, I'll be leading our community through my class "How to Grieve in Today's World." It's a powerful training that gives you practical tools in our busy world.
One of the wonderful attendees from last year's class shared about her experience here:
"Katie gives us all a moment to reflect and consider all the (normal!) ways grief appears in our life in her workshop "How to Grieve in Today's World." Whether you're experiencing a fresh grief, or working to resolve past grief, she offers several practical and accessible tools to help you take further steps toward your own healing." — Carrie Forster, ACC and End of Life Doula
