What to expect?
This course won’t eliminate fight, flight or freeze responses entirely. You’ll still experience these unpleasant reactions, as they are a normal, natural part of life. However, this course will give you the tools to escape prolonged states of threat and defense, which are neither normal nor natural. You will learn to recognize these responses more quickly and exit them more efficiently, helping you avoid getting stuck in the future.
Getting unstuck requires more time, effort, and resources than you might expect or desire. You'll need to dig deep into the well of courage within your heart and push past your previous limits of fear. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Humans are wired to tackle hard things, and you are stronger than you realize. Your courage and faith will be tested; be prepared for challenges along the way.
This course doesn't provide answers. It helps you discover them within yourself. Your solutions are there, even if you haven't found them yet. By thinking differently and taking new actions, you'll activate new brain regions. This naturally leads to the emergence of new insights, clarity, and solutions that you couldn’t previously see.
Confusion, frustration, and disappointment are normal. They are indicators that effective changes are occurring in the chemical states of your nervous system. Expect these feelings to come and go throughout your process. Though they are unpleasant, they are normal, valid, and often a very good sign of change within you.
As we proceed through the course, you will gain new perspectives on the interconnectedness of biological, psychological, and social expressions of the fight, flight, or freeze response. Your body, mind, and relationships are all connected. This may be uncomfortable, but it is very helpful for learning.
You also will take a good look inward at your own nervous system. Through greater awareness practices, you’ll be invited to recognize the specific triggers and situations that activate these responses in your life.
Effective changes and strategies will naturally develop over time as you apply the concepts of this course to the arena of your life. You’ll organically discover strategies, and new ways will naturally emerge to shift you out of fight, flight, or freeze mode. Your innate healing is a trustworthy process.
Each week, you should practice the strategies, reflect and apply new ways of being to real-life scenarios in order to build resilience. Just like medicine can’t work if you don’t take it, the medicine of this course won’t work if you don’t apply it to your life.
