Amplify the voices of those oppressed

Hi Sisters,

Most recently I completed listening to the audio version of Maya Angelou’s “I know why the caged bird sings”

There were so many new things I learnt about her life, her traumas and experiences growing up. It is a must read for anyone of the white sisters learning about (anti)racism.

I have always loved her poetry, quotes and her activism, but now I feel even more connected to her pain, anger and drive for liberation.

The rage that fills me and so many others, about Palestine, Congo, Sudan and so many other genocides currently taking place in the world right now, is a signal for us to also sing, express and amplify voices.

I end with her most famous poem, which the book is about, and I hope this inspires and moves you as much as it does me: https://youtu.be/rZzOxWAxde0?si=u-CPqDju6kfPbFLZ

With love,

Colleen
